‘Sob, heavy world.

Sob as you spin.

Mantled in mist, remote from the happy.’

-WH Auden

The images below were all created using in camera multiple exposures at the site of a derelict crofthouse in a remote area of the Cairngorms. Thick mist provided an eerie and desolate backdrop to the neglected and abandoned crofthouse where I decided to focus primarily on the shapes and textures of the decaying and dilapidated buildings as the landscape around them seemed to be encroaching and slowly reclaiming them.

The lone figure in the mist represents the sense of remote isolation and nostalgia of those who used to live and work here alongside the sense of sadness surrounding it’s visible neglect and dereliction. It is also representative of what might be if we continue to neglect our planet.
